Winebrenner Theological Seminary Update

It’s an exciting time at Winebrenner Theological Seminary.

We are working hard to make seminary education and classes more affordable and accessible for students and anyone who wants to learn more about serving God.  In addition to affordability and accessibility, I am pleased that our accrediting agencies affirm the quality of education offered at Winebrenner by acknowledging that we’re fully compliant in all areas of accreditation.  We continue to need your prayer and financial support so we can be creative and innovative in meeting the needs within the Churches of God, General Conference.

I’m very pleased to be able to share the following:

  1. This fall Dr. Bruce Coats, Winebrenner’s Academic Dean, will be providing a two-hour online course Leadership Communication from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, September 10 – November 26.  This course is being offered for $200 per student.  The course will also be recorded so that anyone who misses a class can access it at a different time.  We are also waiving the typical admission fee of $30 for persons who would like to take this specific class.

This class will count toward a certificate if you want to work toward that, or it can be taken by anyone who just wants to learn more about the intersection of leadership and communication.

  2. At our recent Board of Trustees meeting (in May 2019) the decision was made to “reset” tuition.  Specifically, a graduate credit is now $525 and a course in our Institute for Christian Studies (formerly the Pastoral Training Institute) is now $200.  We are exploring offering a 12-month payment plan for any church or region who purchases a block of 10 courses at $200/course (the total cost is $2000 and the monthly charge would be $166.67/month).

  3. If a single location such as a local church has at least 20 students, we can explore sending a Winebrenner faculty member to that location (in the state of Ohio, this could possibly include students pursuing graduate credits).  We are also exploring potential ways in which we could give some form of credit for those engaged in ministry leadership or participation such as an ACTS Team or church camp staff.

  4. The Master of Arts in Practical Theology (MAPT) is now 43 credits and can be completed in two years.  This degree is now available fully online.  Dr. Dave Barbee continues to serve as the Program Director for this degree.

17 students will be graduating tomorrow – further evidence of God’s guidance and provision as we move into the future.

THANK YOU for the many ways you support Winebrenner.
